Soft Coated Wheaten Terriers are sweet and lively pals. Playful and alert around the home, they really keep the mood upbeat. Wheatens can sometimes be a little headstrong, needing firm but positive training early on, but overall they are very easygoing and cooperative-especially when they get lots of exercise and attention. Soft Coated Wheaten Terriers also make superb watchdogs.

Soft Coated Wheaten Terriers can live as long as 15 years. Common health issues include hip dysplasia and renal dysplasia. They are also prone to protein-loss in the intestines (known as PLE) and kidneys (known as PLN). Soft Coated Wheaten Terriers need daily grooming. You might consider combing rather than brushing to prevent their coats from becoming frizzy.
